It is that time of the year again. Spring has started, love is the year, the end of the school year is in sight, and prom is coming up on us fast. I'm sure we all remember our prom and how magical it was. You can help make Colonial High's prom just as magical by volunteering to chaperon at prom this year.
Prom will be held at the Hilton Orlando (6001 Destination Pkwy Orlando, FL 32819) on May 16th, 2015. We have 3 shifts available: set up will be from 5:30p-8p, the early shift will be from 7:30p-10p, and the late shift will be form 9:30p-12:00a. All chaperons are allowed 1 guest. Business formal wear will be required for all chaperons and guests. We will have special parking for chaperons at the Hilton Orlando. No dinner will be served. However, there will be a room for chaperons that has light refreshments. If a child is eligible for free or reduced lunch that means their families income is either at or below the poverty line. 80% of Colonial High School students are on free or reduced lunch. We also have about 50 homeless students at our school. The school does their best to provide material objects the students need, but what the students really need are role models to inspire them. The Together for Tomorrow program want to bring in adult mentors into the school to help guide and encourage students to achieve great things despite their current financial needs or language barriers.
